Known quite a long time observing the influence of mountain climate on patients with asthma led to attempts to treat such patients in artificially created conditions that simulate some of the factors of high mountains (reduction of oxygen in inhaled air, the reduction in barometric pressure, changes in humidity, temperature, etc.) .
The first therapeutic use of low air pressure in the hermetically closed space was in the 19 century Stoerk (1875), and the basis for the pilot study of the effects of low barometric pressure on the living organism had been laid by the famous French physiologist R. Bert (1879). Development hypobarotherapy contributed to the progress of aviation in the 30-s of the 20 century At this time high- altitude pressure chambers for training of crews of flight structure are created. In high-altitude pressure chambers began the first experiments conducted in 1933 Mirolyubov V.G.
In the last 30 – 40 years the method of hypobarotherapy of a bronchial asthma was most fruitfully developed at the first medical institute of academician I.P.Pavlov, St.-Petersburg. The stored experience has allowed to Bulatov P., Uspensky E., Naumenko А. to offer the most adequate scheme of barotherapy, estimate its efficiency, to reveal contra-indications and collateral actions of this kind of treatment.
Last 20 years in medicine the new science adaptable medicine was generated. Basic role in formation of this science the professor of Institute of the general pathology and pathophysiology the Russian academy of medical sciences has played F.Z.Meerson. He has formulated definition of adaptable medicine as sciences, for the first time has connected among themselves achievements of molecular biology and mechanisms of adaptation to world around factors.
The convincing contribution to practical realization of effects of adaptable medicine is brought by the academician of professor Tverdohlib. In 1980-1985 group of engineers with scientists of the Orenburg medical institute 30-seater vacuum chamber “Ural-1" is created.
Camera “Ural-1" has a large bandwidth, but at the same time manifest inconvenience of its application, because due to the individual patient is difficult to recruit a large group with similar indications for the use of this technique and the same adaptability of the organism in response to hypobaric hypoxia.
By experience it has been established that the most convenient are complexes on 2, 6, 10 patients where possibilities of the most effective selection of group are combined with absence of claustrophobia.
Projects of such chambers and their pre-production models under medical support of academician of The Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Kiselev S. (Moscow regional scientifically – research clinical institute) are developed, Joint-Stock Company " Barohypoxia " and successfully maintained in Chelyabinsk, Kursk, Ozersk, Ufa.
